On Tuesday 18 and Thursday 20 April, Year 9 students took part in a “Moving on from School” Finance workshop. The workshop was delivered by Fran Gould, a Director at local company O’Connor & Co (Financial Services)

The objective of the workshop was to:

. Understand the key features of a payslip

. Explain different types of income deductions

. Understand how the Government uses tax and NICs to fund public services

. Calculate gross and net income

The workshops were well received by all of the students and feedback from them was very positive. Our host praised all of the Year 9 students for their behaviour, focus, questioning of the topic and their engagement.
