On Wednesday 16th March 2022, the Year 7 boys played in a Football County Cup semi-final match against a fellow school in our CMAT, De Lisle Catholic School from Loughborough.

As expected, both sides displayed a great array of footballing and teamwork skills. This was even more impressive as both teams were required to perform in torrential weather conditions.

The final result of the match was 8-3 to English Martyrs’. This result was well-deserved as the team dominated possession of the ball for long periods of the game and, most importantly, took more of their chances in front of goal.

Well done to all of the Year 7 students involved, including the large number who arrive week-in-week-out for training sessions on a Monday after school. This is the first time one of our boys’ football teams has reached the county Cup final in over 10 years – a brilliant achievement!

The details of the County Cup Final are:

Tuesday 5th April, 4pm kick off at Harborough Town Community Football Ground, Northampton Rd, Market Harborough LE16 9HF

Families and friends are welcome to attend the Cup final and I’m sure the students would really appreciate your support!
