On Thursday, December 5th, our Year 8 students had the exciting opportunity to attend a presentation on the Suffragette movement in Leicester, delivered by Peter Barratt, the great-grandson of local Suffragette, Alice Hawkins.
Peter shared the inspiring story of Alice’s life, including her courageous protests, multiple arrests, and her time spent in prison. The talk was both engaging and informative, and the students asked insightful and thoughtful questions at the end.
Students also got the opportunity to see and hold special postcards which the Suffragettes used as identity cards, Included in the photo, our students are holding postcards by Alice Hawkins, Emmeline Pankhurst & her daughter Christabel Pankhurst
Throughout the presentation, our Year 8s demonstrated exemplary behaviour and engagement. We look forward to welcoming Peter back next year for another memorable and educational experience!
