On Friday 25th March the Young Shakespeare Company came into school to work with our year 8 and year 9 students and put on a performance of ‘Romeo and Juliet.’

Students became actively involved in the play through a range of drama and language activities. They were encouraged to explore the motives, thoughts and feelings of the characters. The students were asked how they would like the actors to perform key scenes from the play.

Students from the year group said that this was, ‘An extraordinary performance, lively and exciting and unexpected. The actors broke the fourth wall and addressed the audience directly.’

Volunteers from among the students became individual characters in the story. Students thoroughly enjoyed the interactive nature of the performance.
