Advent starts on Sunday. It marks the beginning of the Church year. It is the season of preparation for Christmas. Advent is not the same as Christmas. During advent we prepare for the coming and second coming of Christ.

The Advent Wreath
Four candles represent the four weeks of Advent, and one candle is lit each Sunday. The first candle, which is purple, symbolizes hope. It is sometimes called the “Prophecy Candle” in remembrance of the prophets, especially Isaiah, who foretold the birth of Christ.
Students in 7 Sherwin helped our school prepare for advent by making our advent wreath, that will hang in the auditorium.
Students discussed with James, our chaplain, the meaning and symbolism of the advent wreath as they made it.
