English Martyrs’ Science students had a hands-on experience that was truly out of this world when the Moon Rocks landed in the Science building in December.  The Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC) has been running a loan scheme to allow access to lunar material that was collected from the six manned Apollo missions which successfully landed on the moon between 1969 and 1972. Some of the samples have been preserved in acrylic disks.  These along with a range of Lunar and Martian meteorites and other interesting rocks were received by classes and science clubs to add a new dimension their learning.  Students explored moon landing sites (virtually), learned about asteroids, moon conspiracies, as well as the forces involved in lunar lift off.  A truly inspirational and memorable experience for our students.
