On Monday, the Leicester Holocaust Memorial Day event took place at De Montfort University, featuring a moving and impactful programme attended by many people.
Sixth form students Karolina and Anouk gave heartfelt speeches, demonstrating remarkable professionalism, knowledge, and insight in their responses to audience questions. Their contributions were particularly poignant, aligning with the theme “for a better future.”
As part of the event, a competition was held where students were asked to write an essay on the topic: “Despite the ongoing conflicts and wars in the world, how can the younger generation hope for a better future?” The following students were recognised for their exceptional essays and received certificates in person at the event:
- Filip M (Year 9)
- Eva A (Year 8)
The winner of the competition, Amy (7FI), read her essay with great confidence and was awarded a prize and certificate in recognition of her achievement.
Finally, it is important to congratulate all Year 7, 8, and 9 students who participated in the essay competition. Their efforts in keeping the memory of the Holocaust alive contribute to ensuring that such atrocities are neither forgotten nor repeated.
