‘On a sunny Sunday in March the school hosted the regional final of a national Public Speaking Competition run by the Catenians, a Roman Catholic lay organisation. This annual event, a highlight of their calendar, is always attended by the Bishop and other important dignitaries; it is always an enjoyable occasion, where young people are celebrated.
This year, 11 students from Catholic schools across Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire delivered their four-minute speeches to a large and appreciative audience. We are delighted that Precious M, from Year 12, gave a delightfully engaging presentation, arguing that true wealth is not measured in money or possessions: she won the hearts and minds of her listeners and was deemed by the three judges to be the best speaker.
Precious will now speak in the Grand Final, which takes place on Sunday 1st September at the Manchester Conference Centre.’
