On Monday 18th March, the year 9 Boys continued their County Cup Football run with an impressive 7-2 victory over Newbridge School. After going behind early on once again, the team displayed an enormous amount of teamwork and resilience to turn the tie. As with most of the teams matches this year, it was incredibly difficult to pick out one individual as the player of the match, but Owen, Callum, Baraka, Albert and Wisdom were identified as being ‘exceptional’ players by the opposition teacher.
As a result of this victory, the team now progress onto the 2023-24 Year 9 Boys’ Leicestershire and Rutland County Cup Final, where they will have the chance of being crowned the best team within the County.
The County Cup Final will take place on Wednesday 17th April and will be held at the multimillion-pound football facility, Seagrave, home to Leicester City Football Club.
Congratulations to all of the students involved so far in the Year 9 Boys football team and good luck with the upcoming County Cup Final.
