The year 8 boys football team had their next round of football fixtures at Beaumont Leys on Tuesday 18th November, this time to determine which school would progress into the City Final.
English Martyrs were drawn against Lancaster in their semi-final. After dominating the match with high percentages of possession and goal scoring opportunities, they eventually scored and went on to win 2-0. An excellent team performance with goals from Darren and Daniel securing the victory.
This resulted in them progressing to the West Leicester City final where they played Beaumont Leys. This was a closer contest and looked as though penalties may be needed to determine a winner, however 2 goals in the second half of the match from Lucien were enough to see English Martyrs as champions!
Mr Nicholson and Mr Johnson were delighted with the teams display, especially their togetherness, support and commitment to one another. In particular, Renell and Jack stood out and were awarded players of the match.
Well done to all involved and keep an eye out to see who you will face in the Y8 Leicester City Schools’ Final.
