This year’s World Book Day- Thursday 5th March was a particularly special celebration in our school. For the first time, staff were invited to take part in the fun by dressing up as their favourite book characters and it was fantastic to see so many colleagues enthusiastically embracing the challenge.

Staff truly went the extra mile to bring stories to life, with a wonderful range of creative costumes appearing across the school. Their enthusiasm helped to spark curiosity and excitement about reading, and it was lovely to see so many conversations taking place throughout the day about favourite books, memorable characters and new stories to discover.

Events like this play an important role in building a strong reading culture, and it was inspiring to see staff modelling their love of books so visibly for our students. The energy and positivity around reading were felt in classrooms, corridors and staffrooms alike.

We were also delighted to be able to give away hundreds of the free £1 World Book Day books, along with the official book tokens, ensuring that as many students as possible could take a story home and continue their reading journey beyond the school day.

To round off the celebrations, staff gathered together after school for a group photo, capturing the creativity and community spirit that made this year’s World Book Day such a memorable occasion.

A huge thank you to all the staff who took part and helped make the day such a success. Their enthusiasm and commitment continue to help nurture a vibrant culture of reading across the school.
