On Tuesday 16 May, Miss Sole and Miss Fones accompanied three Year 9 students to Lincoln Minster School for the Regional Final of the ESU’s Performing Shakespeare Competition. They enjoyed a workshop with a professional actor and director before the competition began.

As part of the event, our students introduced themselves and explained the background to their chosen scenes from Romeo and Juliet and As You Like It. Of the nine performances from five different schools, only one could progress to the National Final at the Globe Theatre in June. Our students were commended for their excellent skills of communication and collaboration. Although they did not progress to the final, they enjoyed themselves and gained insights into Shakespeare and voice projection which they will use to mentor next year’s competitors.
