Working with our Parishes

Here are some photos from when some of our students recently represented the school at the Servers Mass at Nottingham’s St Barnabas Cathedral which was celebrated by Bishop McKinney. CLICK HERE

On Sunday 26th October, representatives from six different religions came together at St Chad’s Cathedral in Birmingham to mark the 60th anniversary of Nostra Aetate.

Representing English Martyrs were members of the choir along with students from St Pauls and led beautifully by Mr Leonard along with our Principal Mr Calen who was in attendance

Published on 28 October 1965, Nostra Aetate – ‘In Our Time’ – was a ground-breaking declaration of the Second Vatican Council focusing on the Catholic Church’s relations with non-Christian religions. It is still considered a foundational text for this important dialogue.

The national celebration of Nostra Aetate’s diamond jubilee includes Sung Vespers with reflections from Hindu, Sikh, Muslim, Jewish, Buddhist and Christian representatives, and a panel discussion titled ‘Dying to Live’ that will explore the challenges faced by Birmingham’s faith communities in end-of-life care settings. On Wednesday 28th January, we hosted the annual St Thomas Aquinas Feast Day Mass. It was a beautiful celebration that brought together children from primary schools across the CMAT, along with representatives from St Paul’s, St Martin’s, De Lisle and English Martyrs.

The Mass was celebrated by Fr Simon Gillespie and was accompanied by the wonderful music and singing of the Schola. The Mass was livestreamed to the entire school community, and a special pre-recorded liturgy was shared with students in Years 7–9 during the morning.

Our sincere thanks go to James, our Chaplain, the SSLT and the Spiritual Life Officers for all their hard work in preparing the Mass and for giving our guests such a warm welcome. CLICK HERE
