This half term, our High Flyers in Year 9 and 10 completed an exciting series of tutorials led by our Sixth Form Champions, exploring one big question: “Should we send a human mission to Mars?”
Over the past few weeks, pupils have investigated both sides of the debate. They examined the incredible possibilities of space exploration — from scientific discovery to inspiring the next generation — while also weighing the challenges and ethical questions, such as the huge costs, environmental impact and potential risks to human life.
To put their ideas to the test, the High Flyers presented their conclusions to a Dragon’s Den-style panel. Each team had to convince the panel that their stance was the most convincing, using evidence, persuasive arguments, and creative presentation skills.
The judges were extremely impressed by the students’ confidence, teamwork, and ability to think critically about such a complex issue. Well done to the winners:
Group 2 – Year 9
Group 4 – Year 9
Group 10 – Year 10
Runners up: Group 8 – Year 9
Well done to all our High Flyers and Sixth Form Champions for an out-of-this-world effort!
