On the Tuesday 17th June a team of EMS girls went for a challenging rounders tournament at Sir Jonathan North.
The team included Jovina, Joyce, Alex, Rose, Martha, Niamh, Abigail and Khayah.
The girls faced a strong Babington side to start, with Jovina scoring a great 1/2 rounder, Alex 1 and a half rounder, Niamh scoring 1 and a half rounders, Abigail with a lovely 1/2 rounder and Rose and Joyce both with two rounders. In the end, the girls won their first match 6 to 3 and 1/2 giving them a promising start to their tournament
For their second match, the girls played Brookmead. The were given a challenge that tested their perseverance, yet they held strong even though this was the match where most of their players got out. The team showed resilience and Jovina scored half a rounder, Alex with 1 and a half, Niamh with half a rounder, Abigail with two and Khayah one. Although this wasn’t the best game they showed amazing support to one another from the side lines and this match ended with a score of a 5 and 1/2 win to 3 and 1/2
For their last game, the girls played the home team, Sir Jonathan North, which they could only play 10 good balls in. They knew that this match mattered so they focussed on their game. The girls got a promising win of 6 to 3 rounders.
The day ended with three matches won and they were incredibly proud of themselves.
Well done everyone involved.
