COURSE DESCRIPTION

The exciting and expertly taught History course comprises of the following:

AS:
– Paper 1 – Breadth study with interpretations – Russia, 1917-91: from Lenin to Yeltsin
– Paper 2 – Depth study – The German Democratic Republic, 1949-90

A2
– Paper 3 – Themes in breadth with aspects in depth – Rebellion and disorder under the Tudors, 1485-1603
– Paper 4 – Coursework – US Civil War – Why the North won

ASSESSMENT

Paper 1 – Written Examination, lasting 2 hours 15 minutes
60% of the total AS qualification, 30% of the total A2 qualification

Paper 2 – Written Examination, lasting 1 hour 30 minutes
40% of the total AS qualification, 20% of the total A2 qualification

Paper 3 – Written Examination, lasting 2 hours 15 minutes
30% of the total A2 qualification

Unit 4 – Internally assessed, externally moderated (4000 words)
20% of the total A2 qualification

Exam Board: Edexcel

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

5 Grade 4s and above to include at least a 4 in GCSE History.
