Catholic social teaching helps us understand how Jesus calls us to treat others, especially by respecting every person’s dignity, standing up for what’s right, and caring for those most in need. In our school community, it’s not just something to learn about in lessons; it’s something we live out every day through the choices we make, the way we include others, and how we serve our local and global neighbours.
Holocaust Memorial Day
Today, the 27th January, marks Holocaust Memorial Day, whereby around the world remembrance events are held to remember the Jewish victims of the Holocaust, as well as other victims of Nazi persecution during their rule of Germany from 1933-1945, including Romani Gypsies, Jehovah’s Witnesses, LGBTQ+ and others. We also remember the victims of genocides which have occurred around the world since then, such as in the Balkans in the 1990s and in Rwanda in 1994. The theme for Holocaust Memorial Day this year is bridging generations – connecting the stories of survivors with young people and wider society.
Special Visit to Local Care Home by Sixth Form Musicians

English Martyrs’ Remembers
At 11am on Tuesday 11th November, all students and staff at English Martyrs’ observed a two minute silence to honour the memory of those who lost their lives in armed conflicts around the world. Our student Cadets stood proudly alongside Mr Calen while year 11 students Poppy (11Cl) and Ola (11Wa) played the Last Post.
Wear it Pink
A huge well done to our Sixth Form Charity Officers for organising a fantastic Non-Uniform Day in support of Wear It Pink, a charity raising funds and awareness for breast cancer.
Thanks to everyone’s generosity, we raised an incredible £1,021 through donations! The school was awash with shades of pink, as every student and staff member joined in by wearing something pink. Our Sixth Form students went the extra mile — even donning pink pyjamas — to show their support and add some fun to the day.
A big thank you to everyone who took part and contributed to such a worthy cause!

Macmillan Coffee Morning 2025
Well done to our 6th Form students who organised a fantastic bake sale in support of the Macmillan Coffee Morning.
This annual event is led predominantly by our Student Leadership Team, but huge credit goes to everyone who sold tickets, donated cakes and biscuits, and helped to organise such a wonderful occasion. The bake sale took place at break time, with music adding to the lively atmosphere and putting everyone in great spirits.
We are delighted to share that over £400 was raised, with all proceeds going directly to Macmillan.
The day concluded with our much-loved Live Lounge Event, where students performed songs and played instruments for an audience of parents and staff. Tea, coffee, and of course, more cake were served, creating a warm and welcoming community feel.
A big thank you to everyone for their generosity and support in making this event such a success.
