At the beginning of June, eighty Year 7 students over two days took part in a Humanities visit to Kenilworth town centre and castle. In the morning, students continued to develop their geographical fieldwork skills by assessing environmental quality, land use and asking the views of local people in Talisman square about their thoughts and feelings for their local area and how the town centre might be improved in the future.
We then made the short journey to the castle to enjoy our lunch in spectacular surroundings, followed by a tour of the grounds – from the fabulous viewpoint of the fortified keep; to the re-imagined Elizabethan gardens; to Leicester’s Building and Elizabeth I’s bed chamber.
All our Year 7 students were exemplary throughout, which made this a most enjoyable few days.
