During January and February, English Martyrs hosted the annual Leicester City Primary School Basketball festivals in partnership with the Inspire Together Team.

Over 120 primary school students from years 5 and 6 were invited to attend and experience playing in the sports hall. The schools finishing in 1^st and 2^nd place from each of the 3 festivals will then continue in the competition at a later date.

As usual, a team of our sixth form students assisted with the running of the festivals, demonstrating effective leadership qualities and officiating skills to ensure the matches ran smoothly. This provides our KS5 students with an opportunity to develop their confidence, communication and leadership skills, all of which will become invaluable for their futures after education.

Well done to all of the students involved and congratulations to Eyres Monsell Primary School who were crowned KS2 basketball champions this year!
