On Thursday 22nd January a team of year 10 students participated in the second round of the ESU’s Churchill Public Speaking Competition, hosted by Ratcliffe College. Each member of the team received a great deal of praise from the experienced judges for they chaired a session, asked questions of a speaker from another school and delivered their own speech. A fourth member volunteered to take on the role of MC for the evening, introducing the other competitors with confidence and warmth, despite having no time to rehearse.
We are delighted to announce that, for the second year running, a team from English Martyrs’ School has advanced to the Regional Final of this prestigious competition. This is a notable achievement for such a young team in their first year of Public Speaking.
