On Tuesday 20th May, we hosted this year’s West Leicester Boys cricket tournament on the astroturf. Castle Mead and City of Leicester Schools attended to create the three team round robin tournament.
A combination of students in years 7 – 10 represented English Martyrs, some of who it was their first experience of playing in a competitive cricket fixture.
The first match finished with a tight victory for English Martyrs, with Castle Mead failing to hit the required 6 runs off the last ball of the innings.
The second match resulted in a convincing win the City of Leicester, who scored an impressive 72 runs off their 8 overs, including 3 sixes.
The third and final match between English Martyrs and City of Leicester was a reduced over match and ended with a victory for City of Leicester – resulting in them progressing into the next round of the competition.
Well done to all students involved, and for any students wishing to be involved in the future – after school cricket club runs on a Wednesday with Mr Nicholson.
