We were honoured to host the Regional Final of the English Speaking Union’s Churchill Public Speaking Competition, on Thursday 13th March. Selective schools from Caister, Sleaford, Stamford, Oundle and Northampton joined English Martyrs in our beautiful Library for a wonderful evening that showcased the many speaking skills essential for future success – as well as the culinary talents of Mrs Harris and her Food Technology students.
The evening was introduced very professionally by members of our Sixth Form. We were treated to talks on a range of challenging topics, including Heidi’s “Success is not about how high you have climbed, but how you have made a positive difference to the world.” Berlinda and Rita worked with a speaker from another school. We are delighted with the way the whole team represented English Martyrs by demonstrating thoughtfulness, attentiveness and kindness with calm assurance.
