Our Junior Choir, Mrs Handley and James (our School Chaplain) joined members of Saint Patrick’s parish and the Irish community as they celebrated Mass with Bishop Patrick this morning.

The Junior Choir were conducted by Mrs Handley as they beautifully led parts of the Mass, including solo performances to a packed Saint Patrick’s Church.

A highlight came at Communion time when, unplanned, both Saint Patrick’s School and English Martyrs came together in the singing and signing of “Bread of life”. It’s good to see us coming together as the parish family of Church, Primary and Secondary.

Bishop Patrick began the Mass by pointing out that Leicester was a city of welcome, that many of our families have moved from around the world and have been welcomed. He prayed for the victims of Ukraine, and hoped that Leicester would provide a place of sanctuary and welcome for those seeking refuge from violence and war.

The Shamrock presented to our school at the Mass was placed with our Lampedusa Cross in the School Chapel as part of that prayer for peace and unity.
