The Young Shakespeare Company came to work with our Year 8 students and stage a performance of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet on Tuesday 7th May. Students became actively involved in the performance through a range of interactive drama and language techniques, through which they were encouraged to explore the motives, thoughts and feelings of the characters. The students were also asked to give views and opinions about how they would like the actors to perform key scenes from the play. Volunteers were also brought onto the stage and joined in, acting individual characters in the story.
The students’ verdict was that the production was: “absolutely hilarious and highly enjoyable to watch”. Thank you to Mrs Nelson and the English department for organising the day.
