In December, the Year 8 students decided to support the local charity KEEPTHEBEAT and fund raising began early in the month. KEEPTHEBEAT is a family charity which helps children with poorly hearts, whilst offering support for families affected by congenital heart defects.
The year group decided to plan a Christmas market for the last day of term and each tutor group sent their charity representatives to have a meeting with Mr Carney to decide on the format of the market. The Sixth Form committee then ran regular meetings with the reps to finalise the plans for the Christmas market. The Christmas market was a huge success and a lovely way to end a busy year. Including the sale of KEEPTHEBEAT merchandise and a charity Santa run, the Year group raised a whopping £1,200!
Adam Tansey, co-founder of the charity, came into school and met the Year 8 and the Sixth Form Committee who presented him with the impressive cheque! A wonderful example of how students at the school pull together and work as a team.
