The whole of Year 10 cohort embarked on a week long work related learning programme aimed at giving our students an insight and better understanding of the World of Work. The week commenced with a Labour Market Information talk which outlined the new industries that are emerging and the future jobs that do not as yet exist. The following day we ran a C.V. Writing Workshop, focussing on the importance of having and the basic outline of what one should look like. Students then travelled to the Worldskills UK LIVE at the NEC, the UK's largest interactive apprenticeships, skills and careers event. Back in school students received apprenticeship talks and finally the Interview Techniques event where many students, for the first time in most cases, had the opportunity to have a one to one interview with a representative of a business organisation.
This intensive week of career education was very well received by the students and feedback was very positive.
I would like to thank the following organisations and personnel for their contribution in making this careers week a success.
