Teachers from Norway and Spain visit English Martyrs'

On Wednesday 3rd April we were delighted to host a visitors from across Europe as part of our involved in the multi-national PAWLS (Practice Abroad with Lesson Study) project.

This is an exciting opportunity for teachers to collaborate and share ideas with colleagues from other countries. In partnership with Leicester University the project also enables trainee teachers to complete part of their initial teacher education in another country.

Our colleagues from Norway and Spain had a very busy day. The highlights included discussing learning challenges with a group of year 11 students, hearing about pilgrimage from a year 10 RE class ad some very in-depth discussions of Twelfth Night with a year 13 English class.

From Spain, we were pleased to welcome José-Vicente Ferrer, headmaster of the Don José Lluch School in Valencia, and Inma López from the Catholic University of Valencia. Form Norway, we were also delighted to welcome Monica Aga, deputy headteacher of Lye secondary school, Øyvind Fjermestad and Stig Morten Kristoffersen, headteacher and assistant headteacher from Riska secondary school, and Gro Næsheim Bjørkvik from the University of Stavanger.
