Scholars Programme Trip to Oxford University

The Scholars Programme officially began with a visit for 14 Year 9 students to the University of Oxford on Thursday 19th January. The students were hosted by the Brilliant Club and were delighted to experience the intellectual and physical environment of the University.

The Scholars Programme matches school students identified as having the potential to make successful applications to top, competitive universities with a PhD tutor who will teach the students about their research. The trip included a talk on applying to university, a tutorial on critical thinking, lunch in the dining hall, a campus tour led by current Oxford students and an opportunity to meet and pet Lady Margaret Hall's famous cat, Benny.

Over the coming months, pupils will attend tutorials with their PhD tutor and complete a 2000 word final assignment which will be graded as a 1st , 2:1 or 2:2, just as if they had submitted it at university.
