Dear Parents and Carers
Provision of food during the school closure period
During the period of school closure, we will seek to provide a meal each day for all students who are entitled to Free School Meals. If your child is not entitled to Free School Meals, we will not be able to provide food, so your child must bring a packed lunch if attending school (because you are a critical worker or because they require support in school).
As you may have heard, the government is seeking to introduce a national vouchers scheme to support lower income families as soon as they can.
If your child/children normally receive/s Free School Meals and is attending school each day, they will receive their meal in school. If your child/children normally receives Free School Meals and is not attending school each day, you have the opportunity to contact the school each day by 9.00am to inform them that you would like a lunch provided. You should make contact by phone 0116 242 8880 or email office@englishmartyrs.org. The food will be able to pick up from the school reception by midday.
If you child is not currently entitled to Free School Meals but you think that they should be, please consider whether you meet any of the criteria below:
Income support
Income-based jobseeker's allowance
Income-related employment and support allowance
National asylum seeker support
Child tax credit (provided you’re not also entitled to working tax credit and have an annual gross income of no more than £16,190)
The guaranteed element of state pension credit
Working tax credit run-on - paid for four weeks after you stop qualifying for working tax credit.
Universal credit with annual net earned income of less than £7,400
Should any of these criteria apply, please contact the school and/or visit https://www.leicester.gov.uk/schools-and-learning/grants-and-allowances/free-school-meals/ if you live in the City, or https://www.leicestershire.gov.uk/education-and-children/social-care-and-supporting-families/free-school-meals if you live in the County.
If you have any questions about this, please do not hesitate to contact the school.
Take care, and God bless you and your families.
Yours sincerely
