Piano and Cello Recital - Sunday 12 May at 6pm

Piano and Cello Recital. Sunday 12 May at 6pm. St Cecilia Auditorium, English Martyrs’ Catholic School

We are hosting two graduate students of the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire in a programme of powerfully lyrical music by the Russian composer Sergei Rachmaninoff - his Sonata for Cello and Piano and the Ten Preludes for Piano, op.23. Leicester’s Griff Wadkin, cello, a past pupil of St Paul’s School, completed his undergraduate studies at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire in 2018, graduating with the highest honours and winning the Phillip Handy Cello Cup. Griff is joined by concert pianist Roman Kosyakov whose performing career began at the age of 12 and has taken him all over the world. His most recent success was winning the 2018 Hastings International Piano Competition with a performance of Tchaikovsky’s famous first Piano Concerto (see it at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0J89aNlUZuY ). Tickets are free, donations at the concert, proceeds to the English Martyrs Leicester Development Trust. The concert will last 90 minutes. Please email tickets@englishmartyrs.org stating how many tickets are required.
