English Martyrs’ Schola Cantorum and several of our instrumentalists were delighted to take part in the annual Menphys Concert at a packed De Montfort Hall on 7 December.
The programme was a mixture of Christmas carols and songs performed by more than 20 primary and secondary Catholic schools in Leicestershire, performed to an enthusiastic audience. Schola Cantorum sang the beautiful medieval carol Quem pastores laudavere. The arrangement was for solo baritone (James), three flutes (Szymon, Miles and Niall), choir and piano, and it was made specially for the occasion by Mr Simeone who also played the piano and organ for the whole concert. Mr Carney conducted Schola Cantorum, while Mrs Bishop made sure that everyone was where they needed to be, and that everything ran smoothly during the rehearsal and the concert. Congratulations to all our students for a very successful and enjoyable evening!
