Leicester City Schools Indoor Cricket

This week, English Martyrs' has hosted a number of indoor cricket fixtures in the sports hall as part of the Leicester City School Sport Partnership. On Tuesday, the Year 7/8 team played a fixture against Beaumont Leys, a very close fixture that went down to the penultimate ball of the game to decide the outcome - a Beaumont Leys win.

On Wednesday afternoon, the Year 8/9 team then hosted their indoor cricket tournament, welcoming two teams from Beaumont Leys and Babington Academy. This round robin tournament ended with Babington being crowned the overall winners of the pool, with Beaumont Leys in second and English Martyrs' third.

Despite most of the English Martyrs' students having not played any form of cricket since last year, all of the 22 students involved over the two afternoons battled superbly well. This will inevitably set the teams up nicely for more competitive fixtures in the summer term.

Well done to all of the students involved, and keep an eye out for the indoor after school club that will commence after the February half-term holiday.
