On Thursday 22nd September English Martyrs' hosted its Futures Event for Year 11-13 students and their parents.
In the afternoon, several of the exhibitors gave Careers talks to our Year 9 students in the Auditorium, before students had the opportunity to talk to some of our stall holders in the main Exhibition Area. A total of 54 exhibitors supported the event, and more than 250 students and their family members attended this highlight of the Careers calendar at English Martyrs'. There was a well-balanced range of representatives from education and industry, including 22 Universities from all parts of the UK, 4 Further Education colleges, Apprenticeships advisors, Careers advisors, Uniform Services, Local Council, and professionals from 20 different industry sectors. Exhibitors included:
National Space Academy Kindeva Leicester Education Business Centre Caterpillar Jack Masters Knitwear Manufacturers Sandicliffe Heart Of England Training TerraQuest Leicester City Council - Women in Construction BakerHicks Ibstock Brick Leicester Fashion Academy Fox Books Ltd FSD Academy Nylacast Morrisby Careers Particular mention must be made of Caterpillar who decided to bring along two rather large diggers and park them outside the main reception of St Cecilia, giving students some firsthand experience of the equipment they might use. What better way to launch a careers fair! Feedback from students, family members, stallholders and teachers who attended was one of praise for everyone who helped put together this invaluable event, offering our students an exciting range of post-16 options. Special thanks to our student Careers Crew who acted as meet and greet ambassadors for the evening, Ms Harris who provided superb catering and to all teachers who came and offered their support on the day.
We can't wait for next year's event!
