On Thursday 17th January, the Sixth Form welcomed Leicestershire Active Catholic Youth (LACY). The seven strong team, accompanied by Father Michael Moore, spoke with great passion and enthusiasm about their apostolate to students of Sixth Form age in this part of our diocese.
There were two particular highlights of the afternoon. The first was when English Martyrs student and LACY member, Patrick, spoke so beautifully and reflected on what faith means to him in our very busy world today. The second was when LACY’s band performed two worship songs. The response from gathered students was spontaneous with many joining in with song and dance.
LACY works with local Catholic parishes encouraging and supporting young people in their own faith journey. It has established a LACY band and holds regular retreats and youth masses throughout the city and county. Next month, members will attend ‘Flame’, the largest Catholic youth event in England and Wales, at Wembley arena. It will also lead its own countryside stations of the cross on 7th April at Mount St Bernard’s Abbey, followed by a celebration of Mass.
If anyone would like further information about LACY they should contact Pauline Payne via Mr Boonham at school. Flame event: https://cymfed.org.uk/flame2019/
