Dear Parents and students
Face coverings – change to previously published information (of 13th May 2021)
Further to my letter of yesterday, Leicester City’s Public Health Team have reviewed the revised government guidance about face coverings issued this week and changed the procedures for Leicester City. We were advised of this late yesterday afternoon.
The Public Health officials have considered local infection rates and our prolonged lockdowns, and have said that from Monday 17th May:
Students do not need to wear face coverings in lessons, however
Students, attending Leicester schools, DO have to wear face coverings when moving around communal indoor spaces - such as school corridors.
We have also been asked to remind students that it continues to be the case that young people aged 11 and over must wear a face covering when travelling on public transport to school.
A reminder therefore that students will need their face coverings for morning line-up, as usual, from Monday. They may remove them when they reach their classrooms at the direction of the teacher.
Thank you to our students for all their hard work this week. I have visited a number of lessons and been very impressed by the quality of work and the articulate responses of students to questioning by their teachers. Year 11, 12 and 13 have nearly completed their assessments and we wish them well for the final furlong.
May I wish everyone a good weekend.
Yours sincerely
Marius Carney
