English Martyrs' is participating in a training and research programme to help schools address social challenges and create better opportunities for underachieving pupils which was launched at De Montfort University Leicester (DMU) on Tuesday 24th January 2023. The Stephen Lawrence Research Centre (SLRC) at DMU is running the programme in partnership with Leicester City Council (LCC).
Participating in this programme will develop and deliver the racial literacy training programme and will help underperforming groups to succeed and help teachers understand students from all backgrounds.
Racial literacy, also known as racial consciousness, refers to the deeper understanding of race - including prejudices, marginalisation and the use of microaggressions. Racial literacy education is designed to shine a light on issues uniquely faced by ethnic minority groups.
We look forward to working with the SLRC to develop and deliver the initiative.
