Critical workers

Friday 20 March 2020

Dear Parents and Carers

Critical workers

Further to my letter yesterday, we have now heard from the government as to what constitutes a ‘critical worker’. As stated nationally, the children of critical workers will continue to have access to provision in schools wherever possible. This provision will be to care for and supervise young people, not to provide normal, national curriculum education.

The government have also stated that “if it is at all possible for children to be at home, then they should be.”

If your employment fallsinto one of the following categories and you or another member of your household cannot care for your child/children at home due to the demands of your work, please register for your child to be in school by filling in the form at https://forms.gle/kd1h5V1wsT2Wwys77. Please complete this form as soon as you possibly can to enable us to plan.

Critical worker list:

  • Health & social care

  • Education & childcare

  • Key public services

  • Local & national government

  • Food & other necessary goods

  • Public safety & national security

  • Transport

  • Utilities, communication & financial services

Please be aware that the health and safety of all children in our schools is paramount. If we cannot open any of our schools, we will seek to provide places at other schools in the locality. Both Leicester City and Leicestershire County Local Authorities are working with us on this.

Take care, and God bless you and your families.

Yours sincerely
