Year 7 and Year 8 more able students recently took part in the Big Bang Digital programme which was aimed at inspiring the next generation of scientists and engineers.
The programme began with 'The science behind the NHS's 350 careers' which explained how NHS scientists make a difference every day with the latest technological advancements in STEM. It also explained the science behind the lateral flow tests, which was very timely and informative for all students.
The students then relished the opportunity to research how the human brain works and the many scientists who have dedicated their lives to study the human brain. The programme concluded with an explosive, demo-packed adventure in climate science with BBC Gastronaut Stefan Gates, who made the students more aware of important scientific concepts with demonstrations explaining photosynthesis, electrolysis, iceberg density, combustion, edible chemistry and greenhouse gases. It was a great opportunity for our students to learn something amazing, hear from someone incredible, discover a possible career, connect learning to real life or think about how they could redefine the future.
