Szymon Mosciszko, in Year 11, has beaten off stiff competition to win The Bardi Symphony Orchestra’s Young Musician of the Year.
Szymon began playing the flute six years ago and studies with Joanne Conquest. In addition to the flute he also plays to piccolo and the organ and sings in our Schola Cantorum. As well as playing in the School Orchestra and Flute Choir he also plays with the Leicestershire Schools Symphony Orchestra.
Launched in 2012 by the Bardi Symphony Orchestra, the Bardi Young Musician Competition aims to encourage and promote young, talented, local musicians, giving them an opportunity to perform in a concert hall setting with a full symphony orchestra. Szymon is the ninth Bardi Young Musician. Previous concerts have been held at Fraser Noble Hall in Leicester but the orchestra are very much looking forward to moving to English Martyrs’ in January.
The concert will take place on 26th January 2020 at 3:00pm and Szymon will be performing a Flute Concerto by the French composer Cecile Chaminade.
Well done Szymon!
