The art department recently took a number of GCSE, year 11, and A level students on a visit to Tate Modern, and Tate Britain art galleries in London.
A fantastic day was had by all, and students had the opportunity to view artworks first hand in gallery settings. We looked at influential artist from the past and present including, J.M.W Turner, Henry Moore, Francis Bacon, Pablo Picasso, Mark Rothko, Gerhard Richter, Edgar Degas, and Antony Gormley, to name just a few. Students were able to enhance their knowledge about the artist, finding out why they created specific artworks, and what may have influenced them.
