2021 APPEALS PROCESS

Any student who feels that a particular grade is not correct does have the right to appeal that grade. Any student requesting an appeal must fill in the JCQ appeals request form below and email the completed form to appeals@englishmartyrs.org

Please submit your appeal as soon as possible to ensure prompt processing. Please note that any appeal received after the deadline will not be processed.

The appeals process has two stages.

Stage 1: Centre Review

You can ask the school to check if a procedural or administrative error occurred when the grade was assigned. The deadlines for requesting a centre review are:

  • 10.00am on Monday 16th August 2021 for priority appeals (Year 13 only).

  • 10.00am on Friday 3rd September 2021 for all other appeals.

Stage 2: Awarding Organisation Appeal

You can ask the exam board to check if a procedural or administrative error occurred when the grade was assigned. You can also ask the exam board to check whether the academic judgement made in assigning the grade was reasonable. The deadlines for requesting an awarding organisation appeal are:

  • 10.00am on Monday 23rd August 2021 for priority appeals (Year 13 only).

  • 10.00am on Friday 17th September 2021 for all other appeals.

Please note, you must request a centre review, by the 16th August/3rd September deadline, before you can request an awarding organisation appeal.

What could happen to my grade?

If you request a centre review or an awarding organisation appeal there are three possible outcomes:

  1. Your grade is raised. Your final grade will be higher than the grade received on results day.

  2. Your grade is confirmed. Your final grade will be the same as the grade received on results day.

  3. Your grade is lowered. Your final grade will be lower than the grade received on results day.

Once a finding has been made you cannot withdraw your request for a centre review or awarding organisation appeal. If your grade is lowered, you will not be able to revert back to the original grade you received on results day.

School staff are not able to give any indication as to what the potential outcome of any review or appeal might be.

Should you have any questions please contact the school on 0116 242 8880 and ask to speak to Mr Cajkler.
