Tuesday 4th July saw the end of year performance of Agape by the combined forces of our music society.
Agapé, written by the American composer Marty Haugen (b. 1950) is a performance work inspired by the ‘agapé feasts’ of the early church. It is a dramatic reflection on the sacred communal experiences of storytelling and shared meals. The work reflects on the Judeo-Christian stories of Creation, using words from Jewish prayers and Christian texts from the Mass.
The performance was full of life and youthful joy but also poignant moments of reflection. Performed to all Year 7 and Year 8 and then to parents and friends of the school it was led by over 80 students in the choir and orchestra.
Congratulations to all students who took part, with a special mention to our soloists and readers.
