The end of the year was marked by a very beautiful Mass of Thanksgiving held in the quadrangle on Thursday 13 July, concelebrated by Fathers Martin Hardy, John-Joe Maloney and David Rocks. In his homily Fr Martin reflected on living the school motto, “May they all be one”.
The Mass was attended by the whole school attended and over 100 guests. The music was led by the School Orchestra and the Agape Choir directed by Mr Carter. As part of the celebration music for the Lord have mercy and Lamb of God was composed and led by members of 9 Campion. Representatives of this year’s award winners led the readings and bidding prayers and the altar servers team ensured the seamless flow of the liturgy. Thank you to Mr Hunt, Mrs Conaghan, Mr Calen, Mr Cajkler, Mrs Loakes, Mrs Edwards, Mr Chambers and James Noakes, our Chaplain, for making the considerable arrangements which enabled the Mass to take place.
At the end of Mass, Mr Carney thanked everyone for their hard work during the year and he emphasised particularly the great community spirit that exists in the school. He also commemorated the work of the members of staff who are retiring and spoke about each of them individually, before making a presentation on behalf of the school. This year we thanked Mrs Lynn Dayman, Mrs Lorraine Fowler, Ms Carmel Griffin, Mrs Paulaine Hirst, Mrs Hazel Kemp, Mr Brian Prowse, Mrs Sue Smith, Mr Paul Wilby and Ms Shirley Yoxall and we offered them our very best wishes for their retirement.
Mr Carney concluded his remarks to the school with the blessing of Aaron from the Book of Numbers:
The Lord bless you and keep you.
The Lord make his face to shine upon you,
and be gracious unto you.
The Lord lift up the light of his countenance upon you,
and give you peace.
